Malaysia requires more people to voice out and stand in the front line. No more hiding behind their comfort zone and wait for changes to come. We ought to do it NOW! Peace to all mankind.

Protecting Penang Heritage

Penang is a great place for tourism. With delicious food, beautiful place to visit, what else can you ask for?

My trip to Penang gave me wonderful and lovely memories. Yes, I am in love with Penang. Penang's George Town has been awarded Unesco status for its heritage building and treasure that you cannot find elsewhere.

How can we preserve it?

There are some suggestions that monorail or LRT being build in Penang. In the mean time, the construction of second bridge connecting Penang is starting soon.

On having Lrt/monorail, I do not know whether is it feasible or not. Look at the building structure in Penang. Most of it are over 50 years or more. We do not know how strong is the building and to start any construction near by the heritage building, it may affect the building during the construction period. The vibration of the machine pumping along the roadside and stumping here and there.
Can you guarantee that it will not affect the heritage building? It is better that Penang state government hire professional building surveyor or any one who is experience to check on the heritage building, on whether it can withstand the vibration cause by any construction if they plan to build it.

Penang still has wooden door that are now hardly seen around KL.
Perak might have. May be along the old road going to Ipoh.

Some one should buy over this house and protect it.
If the owner is willing, put it as one of the MUST PRESERVE list!

Antique lover here!!

As I know, Penang has unearthed tram rail track around the city. I do not know the reason behind the shutting down of the service, but it is indeed a big loss for Penang.

With the Unesco status, it would be better to fit George Town with classic tram.
That would match it :)

I shall leave it to the authority to finalize with it. Love Penang!
